Development and maintenance of nationwide administrative systems

Denmark

The Danish IT Centre for Education and Research, UNI●C, offers a series of IT systems which support education and research in Denmark. Administrative solutions which cover both administration and teaching.

The administration of more than 120,000 students annually on all Danish vocational, business and technical colleges, adult vocational training programme centres (AMU) and agricultural schools are managed by the EASY-A, EASY-P and Elevplan systems. The systems are used for the management of teaching hours, documents, staff information, student, and financial data.

Furthermore, the IT system SIS is used for study and course administration. It is a modern and flexible administrative system for the management of all study relevant information. At present, the system is operational in all university colleges and other institutions of further education.

Focus on stability and quality

Ramboll is responsible for the development and maintenance of UNI●C's administrative systems including new development, optimisation, quality and stability. This ensures that the systems always meet UNI●C's and the authorities' requirements as well as UNI●C's vision of  controlling the development of the IT foundation to innovate and improve Danish education and research.

Offshore setup

The assignment  is based in Ramboll's offshore unit which has a close and long-standing cooperation with the IT company, Larsen & Toubro Infotech in Chennai, India. This provides a favourable business model for UNI●C, a model which combines the advantages of local insight with global price structures. This setup ensures great flexibility and reliability of delivery since both Ramboll and L&T Infotech have reliable specialists at their disposal: developers, IT architects and experts who possess both great knowledge as well as experience with the IT technology used,  including Oracle and Microsoft.

For the assignment, Ramboll uses a tested method that is based on Prince2, ITIL3, MSF and ISTQB. As regards safety, our starting point is DS484 / ISO27000.
